Q and A's
Q - At what age can you participate in the Storm Community Camp?
A - Our program starts at 4, but sometimes children are ready to play at 3-1/2 or some children aren't ready until they are 5. Due to these variations we offer a Micro camp for these age groups which lasts for 2 hours a day. Five year olds can sign up for the full day if you feel they are ready.
Q - What is the oldest age you go to?
A - 16, but we prefer the team they are on or a group of players similar in age to attend so the player can get the most out of the camp experience. Remember Storm Academy have college coaches at every camp to improve their ability and knowledge of the game.
Q - My son/daughter really loves the game of soccer.
I would like to get him/her in a more competitive environment. Do Storm Academy do that?
A - Yes. After the first day of camp your sibling will be put in a different group (if required) that tests their ability. Again the coaching staff have vast experience with those decisions on players and we always leave it in their capable hands.
Q - What equipment does my child need?
A - Soccer clothing appropriate for the weather, cleats, flats (in summer when the ground becomes hard) shin guards worn UNDER the soccer socks, sun-tan lotion (we have soccer-moms on the camp to assist) and light snacks. A ball is provided to them on the first day.
Q - When should I register my child?
A - As early as possible. Take advantage on the 10% Early bird special discount. If you sign up on the day you will be charged an extra fee.
Q- Once I register my child/children what
happens next?
A - Once you register you will receive a confirmation e-mail which tells you the camp you registered for and how much the camp costs you. We encourage you to print this off and hold for your records. Storm will also send you a reminder a couple of days prior to the camp thru e-mail. This e-mail will also give you ALL the details (what time to come, what to wear, what to bring etc ) to prepare you for camp.
Q – Do you offer other discounts?
A– YES. We offer a 10% sibling discount for every sibling. Also we offer a 10% team discount.
Q - Can I bring my full team to the camp?
A - YES. They will be coached by a senior member of the Storm Academy staff. The staff member will offer detailed teaching methods that challenges players for improvement and fun. Tactically we will help them make more effective decisions and technically make them more proficient and skillful.
Q – What happens when it rains?
A – Soccer is generally an all-weather sport. In conditions where there is a danger to the health or safety of the kids, we will cancel the day of camp. The general rule of thumb is that if you see lightning or torrential rain come and get you sibling. We will also in the morning of camp try our best to put cancellation notices on the web site. If time is lost we will make that time up throughout the rest of the week.
